Georgia State Softball Continues Stellar Performance in Classroom


ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Georgia State softball team continued its strong performance in the classroom during the 2010 fall semester as 12 members of the 2011 squad earned academic honors, while the team posted a 3.40 team GPA.
Leading the way for the Panthers was Cassie Boese, who earned a place on the President's List (4.0 GPA or higher). The Middlebury, Ind., native has earned President's List accolades every semester she has been at GSU.
Making the Dean's List (3.50-3.99 GPA) were seniors Lauren Jones and Heather Lowry Massetti, juniors Emily Althafer, Megan Kallatsa, Christina Reed and Alana Thomas and sophomores McCall Langford, Whitney Phillips and Chelsea Sparks (redshirt-soph).

Earning a spot on the A.D.'s Honor Roll were senior Tiffany Bess, sophomore Carrie Williams and former Panther Lauren Fetters.

The Panthers begin the 2011 season on Saturday, Feb. 12 when they host the Georgia State First Pitch Classic in Panthersville.

2011 Softball Winter Clinic

FORT WAYNE, IN- The Indiana Tech Softball team will be conducting a softball clinic on Saturday, January 15th. The clinic will be open to ages 8-18 and will be divided into three sessions with the following itinerary.
10am—12pm Pitching/Catching Clinic (clinic 1)
All areas of the catching position will be covered. Pitching techniques and theories along with a variety of pitches will be covered. PLEASE bring a catcher (can be attending clinic too).

1—3pm Defensive Clinic (clinic 2)
Fielding, Throwing and position specific fundamentals will be emphasized.

3—5pm Offensive Clinic (clinic 3)
A range of all offensive tactics and strategies will be included, bunting and slapping to power hitting and base running.

The Hillsdale College men’s basketball team has not played since Sunday, Dec. 19, and will resume play in the 2010-11 season this Thursday, for its first-ever GLIAC contest against Ohio Dominican University…The Chargers moved up to 7th in the most recent NCAA Division II Top 25 poll, its highest national ranking in school history…The team’s 11-0 start to this season is its second-best start in school history, trailing only the 13-0 start by the 2001-02 Charger team.
