Coach T Resigns Post As Head Women’s Soccer Coach
GOSHEN, Ind. – After nine seasons at the helm of the Goshen College women’s soccer program, Thavisith ‘Coach T’ Mounsithiraj announced his resignation on Wednesday.
“Upon further reflection, I became keenly aware at the enormity of the task of managing a soccer program at the college level, while holding down a full-time job off campus and having a growing family,” Mounsithiraj said.
“I can proudly look back on the past nine years and appreciated the honor and privilege of serving with quality colleagues, administrators and student-athletes,” he added.
After a standout career as a Maple Leaf, Mounsithiraj returned to his alma mater in 2002 to take over the women’s program after a successful stint at Northridge High School where he still serves as a guidance counselor.
“We are very thankful for the time and energy Coach T has given the women’s soccer program over the past nine years,” Goshen College Athletic Director Tim Demant said. “His passion for the game and his desire to see his players grow as soccer players and people is second to none.”
At Goshen, Mounsithiraj has coached 26 Daktronics-NAIA All American Scholar-Athletes and his teams have earned the Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America all nine seasons. On the pitch, the Maple Leafs have compiled a record of 42-101-10 under his leadership, including a 5-12 mark in 2010.
“It is my hope to use my free time now to become more active in ministry with my family and sharing my passion and love of coaching at a different level,” Mounsithiraj added. “The people that I have been associated with both as a student-athlete and as a coach have contributed profoundly to my growth as a family man and as a professional.”
Mounsithiraj will continue to manage spring training sessions as well as finalize the recruiting process until a new coach has been found.
“We wish Coach T well in his future pursuits,” Demant said before concluding that a national search for Goshen College’s next head women’s soccer coach would begin immediately
