Senior guard Shaun Cabrera helped Indiana Institute of Technology to three wins this week by averaging 22 points and four rebounds per game. For his efforts, he has been named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week.The native of Warsaw, Ind scored 26 points, had four rebounds and one steal during a 94-89 road victory over Indiana University-Northwest. He scored a season-high 28 points in an 82-74 win over Madonna University. Cabrera added five rebounds, seven assists and five steals against the Crusaders. The final game of the week saw the senior score 12 points, grab three rebounds and hand out two assists in just 26 minutes of play in a 66-62 win at Siena Heights University.For the year, Cabrera is averaging 14.9 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. Tech improved to 11-16 overall, 5-7 in conference play. The Warriors take on Davenport University this Wed., Feb. 17.
Sabol Honored as Women's Player of the Weekhttp://www.whac.net/article/1521.phpHannah Sabol had a killer week as Concordia University posted two conference wins. The forward averaged 19.5 points, 14 rebounds, three assists and a steal and block each during the two wins to be named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week.A native of Shelby Township, Mich., Sabol posted two double-doubles for the Cardinals. In an 81-69 win against Cornerstone University, she scored 18 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, handed out three assists and blocked two shots. The forward then scored 21 points, had 15 rebounds, three assists and two steals during a 76-63 win over University of Michigan-Dearborn.The Cardinals (17-11) are on a five-game winning streak and are tied for third in the conferece at 7-5. For the year, Sabol is averaging 14.2 points and 8.5 rebounds and ranks in the top 50 for five statistical categories.
