Ohio State Womans Soccer signs six

Buckeyes Ink Six for 2010

COLUMBUS, Ohio - After closing out a record-setting campaign with a trip to the NCAA tournament, head coach Lori Walker announced the six members of the 2010 recruiting class today that will look to build on the success the Buckeyes achieved in 2009.
The class includes three midfielders, two defenders and a goalkeeper. With the departure of All-American Ashley Bowyer and All-Big Ten performer Lauren Robertson to graduation, the 2010 recruiting class is built to help fill the void left by those two standouts.
"My staff and I are very excited to have these six players join us," head coach Lori Walker said. "It is a class we've been courting for over a year and a half. They are a group that would be defined as hard-working, technical soccer junkies."
In addition to Danica Wu from Alberta, Canada, the other five Ohio State recruits are all from different states. Maria Deliberato is the lone Ohioan, Megan Fuller hails from Iowa, Rachel Middleman from Pennsylvania, Kristen Niederhaus from New Jersey, and Adrienne Poe-Hinton comes to Columbus from Indiana.
M - Maria Deliberato - Parma, OhioInternationals SC; Padua Franciscan High SchoolComing from the same club team as current Buckeyes Paige Maxwell, Taylor Moront and Brooke Taylor, Maria helped Internationals SC to four consecutive State Cup championships … a Region 2 ODP team member in 2007and 2008…Super-Y League National Select ODP player … started each of her first three seasons at Padua and was the team's most valuable player all three seasons … first-team North Coast League in 2007 and 2008 and first-team All-Greater Cleveland in 2008 … enjoys playing the guitar, snowboarding, traveling, shopping and working out … she is the daughter of Tony and Diane Deliberato … has three older brothers: Shaun, Dave and Nick.
Coach Lori Walker: "Maria is a tenacious, hard-working, competitor who will fill a needed role on the left side of our midfield. Her Regional team experience should help her adapt to the college game."
D - Megan Fuller - Bondurant, IowaIowa Rush; Bondurant Farrar High SchoolMegan has extensive Regional ODP experience after playing five years for the Region 2 ODP team … she has been captain of that team since 2008 … Megan played one season, her freshman year, at Bondurant Farrar High School and was named honorable mention all-state … attended the Adidas ESP camp in 2008 and was named to the all-star team … her club team, Iowa Rush was State Cup champions in 2008 and 2009 … also lettered in basketball and track … hobbies include hanging out with friends, watching movies, shopping and scrapbooking … she is the daughter of Amy and Chad Fuller … has a younger brother, Drake.
Coach Lori Walker: "Megan is an athletic, hard-nosed defender, who is dominant in the air and composed on the ball. She has quick closing speed, tackles hard and is difficult to beat 1v1. We see her competing for time at both center back and outside back."
GK - Rachel Middleman - Mars, Pa.Internationals SC; North Allegheny High SchoolRachel is another future Buckeye from the club team Internationals SC … helped Internationals to a 2009 USL Super-Y League National championship and a 2009 Ohio North State Cup championship … team was 2009 Region 2 co-champions and reached the 2009 USYSA National tournament … Rachel, a Region 1 ODP team and U-16 national team pool member in 2006 and 2007, started four years at North Allegheny High School, leading her team to WPIAL playoff appearances all four years garnering all-section honors three times … favorite pastimes include reading, spending time with her family and watching movies … she is the daughter of Ray Middleman and Maureen Creehan … has three siblings: Caelin, Ross and Jarrod.
Coach Lori Walker: "Rachel is a gifted goalkeeper. She is a sound athlete with clean technique. Her feet enable her to cover a lot of ground in the box. She loves to train and that work ethic will position her well among our goalkeeping group for playing time next fall. "
M - Kristen Niederhaus - Whitehouse Station, N.J.Fire; Hunterdon Central Regional High SchoolNiederhaus, joining junior Lauren Cusick as the second Buckeye from New Jersey on the roster, helped lead the PDA Fire to the USYSA National championships three years in a row where they were finalists in 2007 and 2009 and semifinalists in 2008 … Fire has garnered four Region 1 championships and four NJ State Cup championships … Kristen is a captain and original member of the Fire … started her freshman and sophomore years at Hunterdon Central, earning all-conference and all-area honors … enjoys playing basketball, hanging out with friends and spending time at the beach … daughter of Jennifer Fryer and Rick Niederhaus … has an older sister, Jessica, and an older brother, Rick.
Coach Lori Walker: "Kristen has a great skill set with the ball, excellent vision, and a sheer presence we feel will have an immediate impact. We anticipate Kristen will help fill some of the void in the midfield with the graduation of All-American Ashley Bowyer."
D - Adrienne Poe-Hinton - Indianapolis, Ind.Indy Burn Power '93; Ben Davis High SchoolPoe-Hinton brings ten years of club experience to the Buckeyes after playing for the Speedway Hurricanes, Speedway Fire and Indy Burn Power '93 … club team won state title in 2006 and went on to be regional finalists … lettered all four years at Ben Davis and was captain in 2009 … Poe-Hinton was named first-team all-state in 2008 and 2009 after being named to the second team in 2007 and receiving honorable mention laurels in her freshman season of 2006 … likes to sing, dance, read and spend time with family and friends … daughter of Arthur Hinton III and Keisha Poe-Hinton … has a younger brother, Arthur.
Coach Lori Walker: "Adrienne is a smart and gifted athlete. She has played multiple positions in high school and with her club team. This versatility will afford her an opportunity as a forward but we anticipate she will have a role as a defender in our program."
M - Danica Wu - Edmonton, Alberta, CanadaLaval Comets; Canadian U-20 National TeamWu comes to Ohio State with extensive club and national team experience in Canada … captained Alberta provincial team in Canada Summer Games and was selected to the all-star team during those games … won a bronze medal with Canada at the 2008 CONCACAF Women's Under-17 Championship … named Canadian U-17 player of the year in 2007 and 2008 … would like to work toward her Master's degree and play for the Canadian National team after graduation … daughter of Joe and Donna Wu … has one sibling, Jordan.
