Pickard opts for Adrian for baseball

GOSHEN -- Troy Pickard, a Goshen High School senior, has committed to continue his academic and baseball careers at Adrian (Mich.) College, an NCAA Division III school.

Pickard, a second baseman for coach Hal Farmwald's Goshen Redskins, hit .338 as a sophomore and .308 as a junior (honorable mention All-Northern Lakes Conference). His career mark is .323 with 44 runs batted in.

He was also a key contributor for Goshen's wrestling (four-year starter with two All-NLC selections and 89 career victories) and football (two-year starter) programs. Brother Travis, a GHS sophomore, has been a teammate in all three sports.

Adrian, coached by Craig Rainey, is currently 24-6 overall and 17-1 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association. The Bulldogs have won or shared four of the last six MIAA championships

Jimtown's Cinnamon Green bound for Bethel

MISHAWAKA -- Jimtown High School senior Cinnamon Green has signed a letter of intent to continue her academic and track and field careers at Bethel College.

Green has been a premier thrower in the area while earning sectional and regional titles to go with State-qualifying spots.

Her bests are 40 feet, 7 inches in the shot put and 110-0 in the discus.

"I am extremely excited with the addition of Cinnamon Green," Bethel coach Tony Natali said. "Cinnamon adds a much needed dimension with the graduation of NAIA All-American Nichole Arnold next season. Green has tremendous strength that adds to her success as a thrower. The sky is the limit as far as her marks go over the next four years."
