Titans Fall 104-65 To High-Octane ONU
Women's Basketball - Thu, Feb 3, 2011 at 8:46 PM
Facing the nation's top-ranked scoring offense, IU South Bend (17-5/2-2 CCAC) jumped out to a 17-7 lead - holding #15 Olivet Nazarene to just two field goals in the first eight minutes of play, but they were unable to hold off the Tigers' charge, as ONU stormed back by forcing 39 Titan turnovers for a 104-65 win.

Katie Hacker (Indianapolis, IN/Franklin Central) broke the scoring open for IU South Bend, connecting on a triple to give the Titans an early lead. Kimmie Hummer (South Bend, IN/Mishawaka Marian [Goshen]) followed with a three-pointer of her own, and the Titans began to gain the edge.

A layup by Hacker, followed by a Lizzie Stapke (Highland, IN/Highland) three and putbacks by Brooke Daugherty (Terre Haute, IN/South [Danville]) and Courtney Simpson (Nappanee, IN/NorthWood) pushed the lead to ten, forcing a timeout by ONU.

Out of the stoppage, the Tigers stormed back, embarking on a 14-4 run to tie the game at 21, before taking the lead at 27-24. From there, the Titans would tie the contest at 31, but were never able to regain control, as ONU took a 48-33 lead into the break.

Out of the half, it was more of the same, as the Tigers began firing on all cylinders from behind the three-point line, connecting ten times in the second half to pull away for the final margin.

Ashley Hummer (South Bend, IN/Mishawaka Marian [Goshen]) led the Titans with 13 points, while Stapke and Kimmie Hummer chipped in with ten each. Daugherty pulled down nine rebounds to lead all players
